A Licensed Certified Social Worker, Tara is a psychotherapist with the Leggett Group and holds an MSW from the Smith School of Social Work. She brings significant involvement in racial justice work and youth and community organizing in Boston and Cambridge over the past decade, particularly through the Phillips Brooks House Association, The City School and Youth Justice and Power Union. In addition, Tara’s experience includes racial justice facilitation, non-profit management, and transformative justice and community accountability work. Her clinical background has ranged from supporting people experiencing homelessness to engaging college students around identity and a variety of mental health challenges. Tara’s clinical interests include the intersection of mental health with experiences of race, gender, class, sexuality and/or immigration, and healing from the impacts of systemic racism and oppression. Understanding the therapy relationship as a central healing element, Tara draws upon Liberation Health, relational and psychodynamic approaches as a therapist; her style is grounded in warmth, humor and support.
