Nathan Whitson (he/him/his) is a psychotherapist with experience working primarily with adults and adolescents. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from New York University and his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Boston College. Nathan has worked with clients spanning a wide range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, trauma-related disorders, and substance use. He completed his clinical internship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, working with patients in inpatient detoxification, intensive outpatient treatment, and medication-assisted treatment.
Nathan is committed to providing empathetic, clinically-based care from a person-centered perspective, allowing clients the opportunity for introspection and self-exploration in a safe, welcoming space. In his work, Nathan draws from various therapeutic techniques, including CBT, ACT, psychodynamic theory, and mindfulness-based practices. He is passionate about the intersection of biological, psychological, and spiritual health and the role of meaning-making and individual purpose in our everyday lives. In keeping with the goals of The Leggett Group, Nathan is dedicated to practicing anti-racist and anti-oppressive clinical work and aims to provide individualized care for clients through a culturally-informed, trauma-informed lens. Nathan strives to facilitate a warm and collaborative therapeutic relationship, empowering clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their world and encouraging personal growth throughout their lifespan.
