John Kmetz, is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) who provides an empathic, person-centered approach to treatment that emphasizes health and wellness. John holds a Masters in Social Work from Boston College and has professional experience in settings such as community mental health, partial hospitalization, and college wellness. John specializes in providing therapy to college students, the LGBTQIA+ communities, and people with chronic mental health diagnoses and their loved ones or caregivers.

John’s clinical focus includes conditions such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, substance use, grief/loss, self-care, communication challenges, and life transitions.  John utilizes techniques from several different treatment modalities including CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT, wellness coaching, and Motivational Interviewing. John’s strengths-based approach helps people realize their ability to make positive changes in their lives, and his warm demeanor encourages the use of healthy coping skills to help people manage their stressors and mental health. Utilizing an anti-racist lens, John invites clients to discuss and process how oppression, privilege, and difference factor into their social identities.

Outside of his professional work, John enjoys running, biking, skiing, listening to music, meditating, and spending time with his friends and family.
